Breach outcomes

6 companies on this site’s own record disclosed a cybersecurity incident under SEC Item 1.05 and were also named in a consolidated federal data-breach class action over the same incident, joining the Item 1.05 filings tracker and the litigation tracker by company. A third track, FTC enforcement, was checked against the same list and found no case that held up under review: see the method note below. This is a record of which tracks line up for the same company, not a finding that one caused the other.

Method: a derived page, no new fetch — joined the Item 1.05 snapshot and the litigation snapshot this site already reads, by company. Neither snapshot carries a shared identifier (the SEC filing has a CIK; the litigation docket does not), so a name match alone is not enough: CourtListener’s own search also returns matches that are a false positive on a bare substring (for example, “Ring, LLC” matching a docket captioned “…Pickering…” only because both contain the letters “ring”). Every pair below was confirmed by reading both records: the company name refers to the same corporate entity on both sides, and the litigation was filed within a few months of the 8-K, consistent with the class action responding to the same disclosed incident. The same cross-check against the FTC enforcement tracker found two nominal name matches (Microsoft, Oracle) that did not survive review: each was an FTC matter from years before the company’s recent Item 1.05 filing and unrelated to it, not a third track on the same incident.
