MKS Instruments reports a ransomware event and suspends operations at some facilities

MKS Instruments, a supplier of instruments and subsystems to semiconductor and industrial manufacturers, disclosed on February 6, 2023 that it had identified a ransomware event on February 3. It temporarily suspended operations at some facilities as part of containment.

February 13 update
A week later MKS said recovery had started. It also said the event had materially affected its first-quarter ability to process orders, ship products and provide service in two divisions. Its Materials Solutions Division was not affected.
MKS said it had notified law enforcement and engaged incident response professionals.

MKS did not put a figure on the costs or say how much insurance would cover, and neither filing addresses whether data was taken.
