Jewett-Cameron reports encryption, stolen meeting images and an extortion threat
Compiled 2026-09-27 from public records. By the cisonews.net Desk.
Jewett-Cameron Trading, an Oregon supplier of fencing, pet and garden products, disclosed on October 21, 2025 that a threat actor had gained access to part of its IT environment and claimed to have taken company data. The company learned of the intrusion on October 15.
The filing
The company said the intruder deployed both encryption and monitoring software, and that what left the network included images of video meetings and computer screens. The actors threatened to publish the material unless paid.
Jewett-Cameron said much of the exfiltrated data related to IT and to financial information it was assembling for its annual report on Form 10-K for the year ended August 31, 2025. It had no evidence that personal information of employees, customers or vendors was compromised, and expected insurance to cover most costs, while warning that operations and first-quarter fiscal 2026 results could be materially affected.
Open
The filing does not say whether the company intended to pay, and there is no follow-up filing in the log.
