Henry Schein, the distributor of dental and medical supplies, disclosed on October 16, 2023 that part of its manufacturing and distribution businesses had experienced a cybersecurity incident, determined on October 14. Taking systems offline temporarily disrupted some operations.
First disclosure
The 8-K attached a press release dated October 15. The company said the practice management software its clients use was not disrupted. It had engaged outside experts and notified law enforcement.
November 2 update
A later release announced that the company had filed a notice with the SEC because it needed more time for its third-quarter Form 10-Q, citing the incident and its decision to take down some applications. It said it would discuss the business disruption and recovery costs on its November 13 earnings call.
